When people hear about the green movement and how im-portant it is that we all get on board with it, they might think, "Yes, but what can I do? I can’t afford to put solar panels on my home or it isn’t logical to install a wind turbine to generate electricity." Valid arguments to be sure. You don’t have to go that huge, however, to do your part in the green movement. By taking smaller steps like the following advice from HGTV, you too can say that you’re "Going Green"!

1. Ditch the Paper Towels! Use Micro-fiber cloths all around the house. They have thousands of tiny fibers that grip and hold onto dirt and bacteria and are then machine washable so they can be used over and over again. Use with a non-toxic, all-purpose cleaner and you’ve gone green.

2. Don’t throw out your daily coffee grounds. First, spoon some warm grounds into your hand and mix with your favor-ite hand soap for an exfoliating scrub. Then scatter the grounds throughout your gar-dens for an energizing fertilizer.

3. Be sparing with paint. When painting walls, make sure you buy just enough paint (or a tad more for future touch ups). Go to www.HGTV.com and use their online paint calculator to help determine the right amount for the job.

4. Recycle your cell phone. Bring your old cell phones to a Call2Recycle box. It is a non-profit program that will recycle your phone for free into new metal products. You can find these collection boxes in stores like Radio Shack, Best Buy and The Home Depot. Learn more at www.Call2Recycle.org.

At R & W, we too are taking steps toward going green. We use a refuse company that recy-cles 60% of our construction waste. We are educating our customers about products that are more environmentally friendly and energy efficient and we are constantly educating our-selves on the green movement.

Going green is not a passing, new-age fad, it is a MUST that we all get on board with this movement. For more informa-tion go to www.Ecologue.com.
